The Pool and Spa Gardens

Part of a wider, multi-phase landscape project, the pool and spa gardens were designed as distinct but connected spaces for entertaining, relaxation and retreat.
A shared palette of materials, repeated forms and planting carries the eye from one garden to the next, whilst curating separate identities for both spaces.

The Pool Garden

This Pool Garden was built for entertaining, bringing friends and family together. Large areas of paving provide ample space for company to gather while subtle changes in paving distinguish the different areas and bring rhythm and character to the broad poolside setting. Planting wraps around the space, tempering the heat, softening its edges and introducing repeated forms that connect the Pool Garden with the Spa Garden beyond.

The Spa Garden

Lush planting in the Spa Garden surrounds the outdoor steam room and shower, steeping the space in nature as the garden moves towards the nature rich woodland boundary creating a less exposed more enclosed, protective space.

The winding path contrasts with the Pool Garden's more formal straight lines and slows the movement through the space adding softness to the journey and space. Paving broken up with planting helps to foster the nature rich space and slows the experience for a calmer more contemplative environment.

Evergreen topiary and ground-cover planting provide structure throughout the year, while seasonal floral displays bring changing colour and seasonal interest. The result has the generous, restorative atmosphere of a private resort, while remaining entirely shaped around the way the family lives and entertains.

The gardens have already welcomed over 60 guests for a long summer gathering- putting their generous entertaining spaces firmly to the test- joyful!
